FAQs
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser tattoo removal uses short, high-powered pulses of light to fragment ink particles into smaller particles. This allows them to be removed and disposed of by the immune system, thus removing the tattoo.
Where is Manchester Laser NQ based?
We are based in Manchester at the The Old Volt Tattoo Studio, in the Northern Quarter. The full address is 10 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JN.
If you are looking to get a coverup tattoo after laser, we are the perfect place to come. You can discuss with one of our artists about the tattoo you'd like and work out the minimum amount of laser sessions necessary for an effective coverup.
How do I book in for laser tattoo removal?
You can book a free consultation via our website here. During this consultation we will assess whether your tattoo is suitable for laser tattoo removal, how many sessions it may take and give you a price per session. If you are wanting to go ahead we will then conduct a patch test and get you booked in for your full laser session.
What type of laser do you use?
At Manchester Laser NQ we use a brand new Q-Switch laser, which is effective in removing a spectrum of tattoo ink colours on a variety of skin types. It typically takes between 6 and 12 sessions of laser to completely remove a tattoo completely with this machine.
How many sessions will i need to remove my tattoo?
On average, it takes between 6 and 10 laser sessions to remove a tattoo. There are a lot of individual factors that contribute to how long it will take to completely remove a tattoo, if at all. During your consultation we will give you a skin assessment and can predict how many sessions it will take to remove your tattoo. Skin type, ink colour, ink density, location of the tattoo and scarring can affect removal.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Our prices start at £50 and are based on the size of the tattoo. You can find more detailed guidance on pricing on our pricing page. We also offer 50% off Harry Potter tattoos at Manchester laser NQ. And, we offer a 20% discount on laser sessions when you book and pay for 4 or more sessions at once.
How long does laser tattoo removal take?
Luckily, tattoo removal is a lot faster than getting tattooed! A very small tattoo will take less than 5 minutes to laser and larger pieces can take up to half an hour. Generally, the consultation and set up take longer than the actual laser process.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Yes, it is likely to hurt but it is quick. People say it feels like an elastic band being snapped against the skin or like being slapped with hot spoon repeatedly.
How long do I have to wait between sessions?
We would recommend waiting at least 6 weeks between laser tattoo removal sessions. The skin needs to be fully healed before another session can be done.
How do I look after my skin after a laser session?
• After the treatment you can expect some hotness, redness, bleeding, swelling, itching raised areas and blisters.
• A cold compress/ice packs can be used to cool the area, but do not apply ice directly to skin as this could cause burns.
• Blisters, crusts and scabs developing 8-72 hours after the treatment is a normal part of the healing process. DO NOT pick, peel, rub or scratch them!
• Keep the area clean with warm soapy water, but do not soak it, and pat dry with a paper towel.
• Showering is okay but avoid high pressure water on the area and do not have a bath/swim/hot tub until it is healed.
• Avoid exposure to the sun for 2 months after the treatment, if it can’t be covered use a high SPF sun cream. • Use pure Aloe Vera gel to moisturise the area when it gets dry and itchy.
• For at least 48 hours following treatment avoid exercising as excessive perspiration can affect the healing process.
• Drink more water and avoid drinking alcohol/smoking to aid healing and to help the lymphatic system to remove your tattoo!
